VOLWORK: Children of Asia: Show and Tell 2016

Enfants d’ Asie (Children of Asia) is a French-based NGO that aims to help disadvantaged children in Southeast Asia build their future.

CoA provides comprehensive support services to their beneficiaries (including nutrition, housing, medical care, and emotional support) and equip them with the tools they need to access the job market: schooling, professional training, scholarships, IT classes, French and English classes.

Children of Asia – Philippines supports close to 450 children each year, from elementary school through to university, by providing them with school supplies, food, medical care, and emotional support. The children CoA supports live primarily with their families in slum areas in Cebu City and in a small municipality in Alegria.

I’ve been volunteering in Children of Asia for a few months now. The organization held a Show and Tell event last Saturday, November 26th; the open house was an opportunity for CoA’s local team to talk about the organizations’ programs and activities, as well as for some of the scholars, parents, and alumni to tell their personal stories and share their talents in dancing and singing. Representatives from different companies, foundations, hotels, and media outlets joined this special event.

I coached the emcee and made new friends. It was a wonderful day.

Our awesome EMCEE. I’m so proud of this girl. Great job, Janine.
An energetic performance from these talented students

Thank you, Solidari’Terre, to the event host Best Western Plus Cebu, and to everyone who supported the Open House!

How can you help?

In this month of December, all of CoA’s support is focused on the Christmas celebrations and the gifts they will offer to their children.
You can either donate or volunteer.

Visit their Facebook Page for more information.

Hope to see you in CoA! 🙂

And oh, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS DAY to all fellow volunteers out there! Let’s congratulate ourselves for making change happen even in just small ways! Cheers!
